Brandon, MB - The Calgary Hitmen kicked of their of the East Division road trip Saturday night with a 4-3 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings at Westoba Place.
Sean Tschigerl opened up the game scoring in the first period with his first of the season on a partial breakaway. Tschigerl wasted no time giving Calgary a two goal lead, scoring his second of the game just 12 seconds later with helpers from Carter MacAdams and Carson Wetsch.
Brandon wasn't able to crack the scoreboard until Caleb Hadland found loose puck out front of Calgary netminder Ethan Buenaventura at 9:06 in the second period, putting them within one. Calgary would have an answer, with Ben Kindel tipping a shot from Tyson Galloway to restore Calgary's two goal lead heading into the final frame.
Dominic Petr would score two back to back goals in the third period but Calgary would fight back, with Carter MacAdams scoring his first of the season to seal the deal for the Calgary.
Sean Tschigerl (2g, 1a) earned first star of the game, while Carter MacAdams (1g,1a) earned third star with his game winning tally. Ethan Buenaventura made 25 saves in tonight's contest and also reached the milestone of 1,500 career saves.
Calgary will have a two-day break before their East Division road trip closes with a four games in five days featuring stops in Moose Jaw (Oct. 10), Regina (Oct. 11), Prince Albert (Oct. 13) and Saskatoon (Oct. 14). Calgary will then have one more road stop in Lethbridge on Oct. 18 before finally returning to Scotiabank Saddledome on Friday, Oct. 20 to host the defending WHL Champion Seattle Thunderbirds in a 7:00 p.m. start.
