Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Sask. - On Saturday night in Regina, the Swift Current Broncos carried a 3-0 lead into the third period and held on to a 5-2 win over the hometown Pats at the Brandt Centre.
Josh Filmon scored twice to lead the Broncos, while Sam McGinley, Connor Hvidston, and Josh Davies added singles for the visitors in the win. Gage Alexander stopped a career high 40 of 42 Pats shots.
Alexander Suzdalev and Stanislav Svozil replied for the Pats who fell one game below .500 with the loss. Matthew Kieper kicked out 20 of Broncos blasts in the loss.
THE GOALS
First Period
SC 0-1 at 15:39 - Sam McGinley (3), assisted by Mathew Ward // McGinley, a former Pat and 20-year-old defender carried the puck into the Pats zone where he got by the Pats defender and neatly tucked the puck past Matthew Kieper to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead.
Second Period
SC 0-2 at 5:22 - Josh Filmon (9), assisted by Raphael Pelletier // The Broncos broke in on a three-on-two where Pelletier found Filmon in the slot and from in close and beat Kieper to give the Broncos a two-goal lead at 2-0.
SC 0-3 at 15:52 - Connor Hvidston (4), unassisted // A blind pass from the Pats defenceman was intercepted by Hvidston who went in alone on Kieper and buried the puck to give the Broncos a three-goal lead at 3-0.
Third Period
REG 1-3 at 7:02 - Alexander Suzdalev (7), assisted by Stanislav Svozil and Connor Bedard (PP) // The Pats worked the puck around on the powerplay and Sudzalev was sent a perfect pass that he one-timed past Gage Alexander to get the Pats on the board, trailing by two at 3-1.
REG 2-3 at 7:18 - Stanislav Svozil (2), assisted by Alexander Suzdalev and Connor Bedard (PP) // Fresh off a faceoff win in the offensive zone by Bedard, the puck got to Suzdalev who sent a quick pass to Svozil who ripped a point shot that beat Alexander to get the Pats back to within one at 3-2.
SC 2-4 at 16:42 - Josh Filmon (4), unassisted // An ill-advised pass from a Pats player deep in the defensive zone was intercepted by Flimon who fired a snap shot glove side past Kieper to give the Broncos a 4-2 lead late in the third period.
SC 2-5 at 18:45 - Josh Davies (4), assisted by Connor Hvidston (EN) // Davies seals the contest with an empty-netter.

He leads the team in goals, assists, points, and shots. * The Pats went 2/8 on the powerplay while going 4/4 on the penalty kill. * Stanislav Svozil extended his point-streak to five games (2G-6A-8PTS). * 20-year-old forward Jakob Brook made his season debut, taking three minor penalties.
