Sugar Land, TX - The Somerset Patriots (41-21) defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters (32-29) 5-3 Saturday evening from Constellation Field. The Patriots have won two of the first three games in this four game series.

In the top of the first inning third baseman Corey Smith slapped a RBI single to give the Patriots an early 1-0 advantage

Sugar Land grabbed the lead in the home half of the second inning when first baseman Nick Stavinoha hit a RBI single and shortstop Taylor Harbin tallied a RBI sacrifice fly to make the score 2-1.

The Patriots plated three runs in the fourth frame to take a 4-2 lead. Right fielder Luis Montanez blasted a solo home run (7), shortstop Edwin Maysonet tallied a RBI via a bunt single and second baseman Jonny Tucker socked a RBI double.

Stavinoha cut the deficit in half in the ensuing half inning as he drilled a solo home run (7) making the contest 4-3.

Montanez hammered his second home run (8) of the evening in the top of the eighth inning to put Somerset in front 5-3 which would be the final.

Gary Moran (5-3) earned the win with a quality start as he threw six innings allowing three runs. Sean Gallagher endured the loss hurling six innings while allowing four runs. Jon Hunton notched the save (20) pitching a perfect ninth inning.
