Sugar Land fell 5-3 to the Patriots tonight in Game3 at Constellation Field, giving the visiting club a 2-1 series advantages far this homestand. With the loss tonight, the Skeeters now hold a 3-9 record against Somerset in 2014, 32-29 overall this season.

Sean Gallagher (6.0,9,4,3,2,5) pitched 6.0 innings in his first start with the Skeeters this season and allowed four runs on nine hits with five strikeouts.

Getting the top of the second inning started was right fielder Brian Barton (0x3, R), who led off the inning with a walk. Catcher Travis Scott (0x4, R) then crushed a grounder to the Patriots second baseman who committed an error trying to turn the double play, which allowed Barton to come around for the first score of the game. A base-hit grounder to left-center field from first baseman Nick Stavinoha (2x4, R, 2 RBI) put runners on first and third as shortstop Taylor Harbin (1x3, RBI) came to the plate. Harbin hit a sacrifice fly ball to center field that would bring home Scott, giving the Skeeters a 2-1 lead heading into the top of the third.

With a full count and two outs in the bottom of thefourth, Stavinoha laced a solo shot deep over the left field fence, his seventh so far this season.

Lefty Cory VanAllen (1.2,2,1,1,0,0) entered the game in the seventh and tossed 1.2innings before being replaced by Roy Corcoran (1.1,0,0,0,0,2). The righty tossed 1.1 frames without allowing a hit or a run in his four batters faced.
