
Patriots Sweep Away Riversharks with 3-2 Win

Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots defeated the Camden Riversharks 3-2 at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday evening.
The Patriots took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a solo home run by first baseman Joe Burke (9).
Camden took a 2-1 lead with two runs in the top of the third inning. Center fielder Sean Smith was hit by a pitch, designated hitter Brian Burgamy singled, and right fielder Richie Robnett drew a walk to load the bases. Third baseman Chris Malec followed with a two-run single to plate Smith and Burgamy for the lead.
Somerset answered with a run in the bottom of the third inning on a solo home run by center fielder Wayne Lydon (6) to tie up the game 2-2.
The Patriots regained the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. Lydon singled up the middle and came around to score on an RBI double by third baseman Jeff Nettles for a 3-2 lead.
Patriots reliever Ben Grezlovski (6-3) picked up the win with two scoreless innings pitched. Camden reliever William Vaughan (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing a run on two hits in two innings pitched. Scott Williamson earned his ninth save of the season for Somerset with a scoreless ninth inning pitched.
The Somerset Patriots 2010 Season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Monday, September 6th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for a 6:05 pm game against the York Revolution. The game includes a Labor Day Fireworks Celebration courtesy of Cablevision Advertising Sales.
