
Patriots Sign SS Angel Sanchez

Bridgewater, NJ - The Five-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced the signing of shortstop Angel Sanchez.
Sanchez has Major League experience with the Kansas City Royals, Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros, and Chicago White Sox. He played at the Major League level for the White Sox earlier this season.
Sanchez played in 185 games in the Majors, the most in 2011 with Houston when he appeared in 110 games.
In 2010, Sanchez hit .280 and drove in 28 runs in 65 games for the Astros.
In addition to his Major League time, Sanchez has five seasons of Triple-A experience, including 43 games this season at Charlotte.
To make room for Sanchez on the roster, right-handed pitcher Paul Phillips has been placed on the Disabled List Retroactive to July 28th.
