
Patriots Prevail with 7-5 Extra Inning Win

Sugar Land, TX - The Somerset Patriots (7-5) snapped their four game losing streak by defeating the Sugar Land Skeeters (6-6) 7-5 in 10 innings Wednesday afternoon from Constellation Field. For the second time this season catcher Adam Donachie hit a game winning RBI single in extra innings.
In the bottom of the first inning designated hitter Nick Stavinoha recorded a RBI single to give the Skeeters an early 1-0 advantage.
Somerset tallied three runs with two outs in the top of the third inning to take a 3-1 lead. Left fielder Ty Wright drilled a RBI single while third baseman Corey Smith smacked a two RBI double.
The Patriots added a run in the top of the fifth inning when designated hitter Eddy Martinez-Esteve tallied a RBI sacrifice fly increasing the lead to 4-1.
Shortstop Rusty Ryal clubbed a game tying three run home run (1) to tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Left fielder Neil Medchill put the Skeeters in front in the bottom of the sixth inning with a RBI double making the score 5-4.
In the ensuing half inning Wright rifled a RBI double to left-center field that evened the score at 5-5.
Donachie broke the 5-5 tie in the top of the tenth inning as he poked a RBI single up the middle. An additional run scored on a fielding error by center fielder Ryan Langerhans to make the score 7-5 which would be the final score.
Mike DeMark (1-1) earned the win in relief. Ben Kozlowski (0-1) suffered the loss in relief. Jon Hunton notched his second save of the year pitching a scoreless final frame.
