Somerset Patriots News Release
Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots (4-0, 39-28) defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers (1-3, 39-28) 2-1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday evening.
The Patriots took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI single by Alfredo Rodriguez and a bases loaded walk by Yovan Gonzalez.
"I was just trying to slow the game down," said Rodriguez. "[Jonathan Albaladejo] was varying up his tempos, so I was just trying to not do too much and stay in the middle of the field. Luckily I was able to do that."
The Barnstormers cut the lead in half with a run on an error in the top of the eighth inning.
Rick Teasley (4-4) pitched six scoreless innings with three hits and nine strikeouts for the win. Albaladejo (6-4) suffered the loss, allowing two earned runs on four hits and six strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched. Ryan Kelly struck out the side in the ninth inning to earn his 12th save of the season.
The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Saturday, July 14th with a 7:05 pm game against the Lancaster Barnstormers. The game features a Post Game Fireworks Show presented by Bill Leary AC/Heating. For tickets, visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
