(York, Pa.) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series at PeoplesBank Park.

The Ducks took a 1-0 lead in the first inning against Revolution starter Robert Carson. Three singles in the inning, including a two-out RBI base hit from Taylor Ard, put the Flock on top.

York took the lead with a five-run fourth inning off Ducks starter Lee Sosa, highlighted by RBI singles from Jared Mitchell, Welington Dotel, Luis Cruz and Ryan Dent. A four-run fifth inning and a seven-run sixth put the game out of reach. Dent's three-run homer in the fifth and RBI doubles from Melky Mesa and Travis Witherspoon in the sixth highlighted the scoring.

Carson (6-3) picked up the win, pitching five innings of one-run ball, allowing eight hits and a walk while striking out four. Sosa (0-2) suffered the loss, surrendering seven runs (five earned) on five hits and four walks over four and one-third innings.

Ard, Travis Snider and Dan Lyons each had two hits to pace the Flock. Newcomer Jose Cuas made his Ducks debut on the mound and retired York in order in the eighth inning.
