Somerset Patriots News Release
Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots (6-3) shutout the York Revolution (3-7) 2-0 Sunday afternoon from TD Bank Ballpark. The Patriots swept the Revolution in the three game weekend series and extended their winning streak to four games.
In the bottom of the first inning first baseman Andres Perez committed a throwing error that led to a Somerset run to make the score 1-0 in favor of the Patriots.
First baseman Greg Hopkins belted a home run (2) in the home half of the fourth frame to increase Somerset's advantage to 2-0.
Lucas Irvine (1-1) earned the win hurling six shutout innings while only scattering two hits. Mike McClendon (0-1) suffered the loss lasting five innings surrendering a pair of runs. Jon Hunton notched the save (3) tossing a scoreless ninth inning.
