
Blue Crabs Lose in the Series Finale to the Barnstormers

(Lancaster, PA., May 3, 2015)--- The Blue Crabs bats go silent in the finale of the series as the Blue Crabs fall to the Barnstormers 7-0. Southern Maryland banged out just three hits, following a night where they scored six runs in the 10th inning.
RHP Bryan Evans picked up the win going seven innings, allowing just three hits, and striking out six. The scoring started for the Barnstormers in the bottom of the third. Kevin Rivers led things off with a single, followed by a fielder's choice, followed by a single from Shoki Kakihara. Blake Gailen, who had three RBIs on the afternoon, then came to the plate and homered for the second straight game to give Lancaster a 3-0 lead.
Kevin Rivers started the rally once again in the bottom of the fifth, leading the inning off with a double. Two batters later with Rivers advancing to third on a ground out to second, Blake Gailen was intentionally walked to put runners at the corners. Brian Cavazos-Galvez scoring Kevin Rivers to make it 3-0. David Cooper would then come to the plate and homer for the second straight game to make it 7-0.
The Blue Crabs had just six base runners. Meanwhile, right hander Jake Hale went five innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits, walking four and striking out five. It was the first loss suffered by Hale this season.
The Blue Crabs have their first off day of the 2015 season tomorrow, but then return home to take on the Camden Riversharks on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, before hitting the road again to take on the York Revolution for a four game set. LHP Brian Burres (0-1, 1.63 ERA) will start for Southern Maryland, while RHP Sean Gleason (0-1, 4.50) will throw for Camden. First pitch set at Regency Furniture Stadium for 7:05.
