Bridgewater, NJ - Jhony Brito (2-1) and clutch hitting led the Somerset Patriots (14-7) to a 5-0 shutout win over the Portland Sea Dogs (10-11) at TD Bank Ballpark on Sunday afternoon.

Brito was in command throughout his entire seven innings of work. He gave up just one hit and struck out six batters for the win. The right-handed hurler from the Dominican Republic has now thrown three shutouts in four starts and just two earned runs on the season.

Brandon Lockridge plated the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the third, shooting a ball into the right field gap for a bases clearing triple. Lockridge now has five RBI in the past three games.

The Patriots then homered twice in the bottom of the fifth as Anthony Volpe (3) blasted a solo home run to left field before Andres Chaparro (5) launched a two-run shot to add three runs to the lead.

Chris Murphy (0-2) took the loss after he gave up two runs in four innings.

The 2022 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home on Tuesday, May 3 with a 11:05 a.m. game against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays) at TD Bank Ballpark.
