Akron RubberDucks News Release

The Akron RubberDucks pound two home runs to back dominant pitching and take the series from the Altoona Curve with a 4-1 win on Sunday afternoon at Canal Park.

Turning Point

The RubberDucks broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth when Eric Rodriguez worked a leadoff walk before Jose Tena launched a two-run home run off the batter's eye to give Akron the 3-1 lead.

Mound Presence

Hunter Gaddis was off and running early by striking out the side in order to open the game. Gaddis ran into some trouble in the second allowing back-to-back hits to plate an unearned run, but quickly resettled to go on and toss five innings allowing just the one run while striking out seven. Joey Cantillo followed with four scoreless innings striking out four.

Duck Tales

The RubberDucks answered Altoona's early run with one of their own in bottom of the fourth. Will Brennan came up with runners on the corners and lifted a sac-fly to left to bring home Daniel Schneemann to tie it up at 1-1. Schneemann added some late insurance in the bottom of the eighth by blasting one 398 feet into the Bud Light Lime Tiki Terrace to make it 4-1 RubberDucks.
