Patrick Johnson Allows Only Two Hits In 1-0 Win Vs Laredo

Lemurs left-hander Luis Pollorena had a perfect game through five, but X's starter Patrick Johnson would wind up with the win allowing no runs and two hits in eight innings in the 1-0 win over the Laredo at Lewis and Clark Park.

Starting pitching was stellar for both ball clubs with neither pitcher allowing a run until the bottom half of the seventh inning. In the seventh, Noah Perio Jr reached base off the 2nd base-hit of the night for Sioux City, a lead-off single. Ryan Court and Tommy Mendonca were sent down back-to-back to put a runner on and two outs. With two outs, no score and a runner on, Matt Koch smashed a 3-2 pitch in the gap for an RBI double.

Explorers closer Jose Flores came in to close it out in the ninth, going 1-2-3 in order to clinch the win for Sioux City and get his league leading thirteenth save of the season. Final score, Explorers 1, Lemurs 0. The X's finish with a run on three hits, while Laredo has two hits and no runs in the contest.

Sioux City's right-hander Patrick Johnson (7-0) pitched an absolute gem Wednesday night, going eight quick innings, allowing only two hits with no runs and five strikeouts. Laredo's starting pitcher Luis Pollorena was charged with the loss allowing one run off three hits, with six strikeouts in seven innings pitched.

The X's had three batters with hits on the night. Tim Colwell broke up the no-hitter with a single in the sixth, Noah Perio had a base hit single in the seventh, and Matt Koch finished with an RBI double to win the game.
