Regina Pats News Release


The Pats took a 3-0 lead early in the second period on goals from Hampus Gustafsson, Andrew Rieder and Dane Muench only to see the Brandon Wheat Kings come back and win the game 5-4 in overtime. Muench's second of the game was the other Pat marker. Adam Beukeboom played in his first game as a member of the Regina Pats and stopped 21 of 24 shots over two periods of play.

Saturday September 11th Brandon Wheat Kings 7 Regina Pats 3

The back end of a home and home series with the Brandon Wheat Kings saw the Pats lose at Westman Communications Group place, 7-3. Hampus Gustafsson was solid in the loss with a goal and two assists, while Landon Peel picked up a pair of helpers.

In the Locker Room:

Goaltending Race Gets Tighter

The incumbent goaltenders in Damien Ketlo and Dawson Guhle are getting pushed by a pair of you rookies. 18 year old Matt Hewitt has been solid in his two stints between the pipes during preseason while newly signed 16 year old 'tender Adam Beukeboom flourished in his first start Friday night. It will be a great battle throughout the rest of camp.

Slick Swede:

He didn't get an invite to a pro camp, but Hampus Gustafsson is proving this preseason that maybe he should have. In three games he has 3 goals and 5 assists for 8 points.

NHL Camps:

These current Regina Pat players arrived at NHL training camps this past week: Garrett Mitchell (WSH), Carter Ashton (PHI), Jordan Weal (LA), Brandon Davidson (EDM) and Ricard Blidstrand (PHI).

Bieber Fever:

With the Justin Bieber concert this week, the Regina Pats will be practicing at the Co-operators Centre. Coaching staff and veteran players are available from 1:45-2:15 in front of the Pats dressing room, school kids are available after practice.

Prospect Watch - Brandon Halbgewachs:

Brandon Halbgewachs is a 1994 born winger that was an invitee to 2010 training camp. He impressed the coaches and management enough to be put on the Pats 50 player list. Last season as a 15 year old rookie with the Regina Pat Canadians, the White City prospect played in 44 games, picking up 10 points.

In The Community:

September 16 - Alzheimer Society Coffee Break - F.W. Hill Mall - 10:00 - 11:00 (3 players)

Coffee Break is the Alzheimer Society's major nationwide annual fundraiser for local Alzheimer Societies. Participants at these events make a donation in exchange for a cup of coffee. The money raised stays in that province or community to help support local programs and services.

September - 19 - Terry Fox Run - T.C. Douglas Building - Opening Ceremonies 9:45 (Regina Pats President/Governor Brent Parker will be speaking)

Season Ticket Pick-up

There are still many season ticket packages to pick-up. If you haven't picked up your 2010-11 Regina Pats season tickets, do so as soon as possible by stopping by the Regina Pats office, located on the west side of the Brandt Centre.

Home Opener:

The Regina Pats home opener is Sunday September 26th at 2pm at the Brandt Centre as the blue and white host the Brandon Wheat Kings. 620 CKRM kick off Bar-B-Que is set to begin at 11:30 at the Ag-Ex Pavilion with a Family Fun Skate to follow the hockey game. Get your family pack now at the Brand Centre ticket office, or for group packages with special home opener prices, call Cody or Corey at 522-PATS
