Lethbridge, AB - Tickets are still available for the Canes home preseason date tomorrow - Tuesday, September 14th as the Lethbridge Hurricanes play host to the Red Deer Rebels for a WHL preseason match up on the west side. Don't miss out on your only chance to see the 10-11 Hurricanes on home ice during the preseason.
The Canes are coming off a solid performance in their preseason tournament in Kennewick, WA this weekend and will undoubtedly be excited to be back in the 'Bridge' to play in front of the home town crowd. The Canes suffered a 7-2 loss to the Spokane Chiefs on Thursday night before rebounding with a 6-1 win over the host Tri City Americans on Friday night. Alex Kuvaev, Ryon Moser and Neal Tarnasky each tallied a goal and an assist in a spirited contest that saw over 154 combined penalty minutes. Goaltender Dylan Tait rebounded from a tough first game with an inspired 36 save performance. The Canes then wrapped up the tourney with a 2-1 shootout loss to the Seattle Thunderbirds in which Magrath's own Russell Maxwell tallied the go ahead goal with just over a minute left in regulation. But Seattle stunned the young Canes lineup with an equalizer with just 8.8 seconds to play in the game to force overtime. OT would solve nothing and the T-birds would go on to win in a shootout - Lethbridge goaltender Tanner Kovacs also made his presence known with an impressive 49 save performance despite the shootout loss.
The hockey club is proud to host this game off site on the west side - the home of the CIS University of Lethbridge Pronghorns. With several former Hurricanes players taking advantage of their WHL Scholarship and choosing to play at the U of L, the Canes will be donating the proceeds of the 50/50 raffle to U of L Hockey.
Tickets are priced at $8 (includes GST) and are available for purchase only through the Hurricanes office located in the west parking lot of the ENMAX Centre and walk up tickets available at the door. Doors open at 6:00 PM for this rush seating event while puck drop is 7:00 PM at Nicholas Sheran Arena (401 Laval Blvd. West). With limited seating the Hurricanes encourage everyone to purchase their tickets early by contacting OJ or Dawna in the Hurricanes office at 403 328 1986.
