South Bend Silver Hawks News Release

South Bend, IN - In conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the South Bend Silver Hawks have announced that infielder Justin Parker has been activated from the disabled list and OF Marc Krauss has been sent to Arizona to undergo evaluation on an ankle injury. Krauss is not expected to rejoin the Silver Hawks this season.

Krauss, a second round pick this June from Ohio University, has been nagged by an ankle injury in his time with South Bend, and is returning to the Diamondbacks complex in Arizona to be evaluated. He had a tremendous impact with the Silver Hawks, hitting .304 with two homers and 17 RBI in 32 games. Krauss also walked 14 times to have a .377 on-base percentage out of the cleanup spot in the lineup.

Parker has been on and off the disabled list a couple of times this season, bothered by left shoulder inflammation. He missed three weeks in June with the injury, and has missed the last three weeks with the same problem. When healthy, he also has been a force in the lineup, hitting .276 with a home run and 24 RBI. Parker, an Indiana native, was drafted in the sixth round of the 2008 First Year Player Draft from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

The South Bend roster currently stands at 25 active players, the Midwest League limit.

The Silver Hawks play Quad Cities tonight at 7:00 PM Eastern Time. Pregame coverage begins at 6:40 PM Eastern Time on 1620 ESPN Radio and online at www.silverhawks.com. For more information about the Silver Hawks or to purchase tickets, please call (574) 235-9988 or visit www.silverhawks.com.
