Lexington Legends News Release

The Lexington Legends scored in double digits for the second straight game as they took a 10-7 win over the Hagerstown Suns Tuesday night at Applebee's Park. Second baseman Jimmy Paredes led the way with four hits, four stolen bases and two runs batted in.

The Legends, who won 14-1 in the series opener Monday night, had to come from behind Tuesday. Hagerstown jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a solo home run by J.P. Ramirez and back-to-back doubles by Dustin Hood and Brett Newsome.

The Legends got one run back in the bottom of the second when Ben Heath led off with his fourth home run as a Legend, a 430-foot blast over the wall in straightaway center field.

Lexington added three runs in the third inning. Jiovanni Mier singled with one out and advanced to third on Jake Goebbert's league-leading 44th double of the year. Mier scored on Kody Hinze's infield out. The RBI was Hinze's 92nd, putting him a tie with Goebbert for second in the South Atlantic League, two behind Chris Dominguez of Augusta. After Heath walked, Jonathan Meyer doubled to left center field, scoring Goebbert and Heath, and giving the Legends a 4-2 lead.

In the Lexington fourth, Grant Hogue led off with a double and went to third on a single by Paredes. After Paredes stole second, Hogue scored as Mier grounded out, making the score 5-2.

The Legends made it 7-2 in the sixth. Hogue reached on an error by shortstop Rick Hague, stole second and came home on Paredes' double to right field. Paredes then stole third and came home on a throwing error by catcher Adran Nieto.

Hagerstown came back with three runs in the top of the seventh, two coming on Hague's homer with a man on base. With the lead down to two at 7-5, the Legends answered with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Rene Garcia singled, moved to third on a double by Renzo Tello and beat the throw home after Hogue grounded to shortstop. Paredes singled to score Tello, and Jiovanni Mier's single scored Hogue with the final Lexington run.

Hagerstown scored twice in the ninth inning off Legends closer Kirk Clark. Eury Perez led off with a single and stole second base. It was his third steal of the game and 61st of the year, best in the league. Hague doubled to score Perez, advanced to third on a fly ball by Justino Cuevas and came home on a sacrifice fly by Ramirez.

Brad Dydalewicz (1-4) relieved starter Zach Grimmett in the fourth inning and pitched three scoreless innings to pick up his first win of the year. Hagerstown starter Graham Hicks (1-6) was the losing pitcher.

The Legends have won the first two games of the series, which continues with a 7:05 p.m. game Wednesday night.

Attendance at Applebee's Park: 6,414
