Panthers Recall Wilson from Portland

Portland, ME - Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today the recall of forward Garrett Wilson from the Portland Pirates.

Wilson, a 6-foot-2, 199 pound left wing from Barrie, Ontario, played 29 games on his most recent reassignment to Portland, scoring seven goals and nine assists for 16 points. Overall with Portland this season, Wilson has seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points and 48 penalty minutes in 37 games.

The 24 year-old has played in seven NHL games with Florida over the past two seasons. Selected by the Panthers in the Fourth Round (107th Overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Wilson is in his fifth professional season.

He will join the Panthers in time for tonight's game in Buffalo against the Sabres at 7:00 p.m. Wilson also joins Pirates' captain Brent Regner with Florida, who was recalled by the Panthers from the Pirates on Friday afternoon. The defenseman made his season debut with Florida on Saturday night at the BB&T Center against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Pirates begin a seven-game road stand starting against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Friday night. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. Jeff Mannix calls all the action starting at 6:45 with the Pirates Pregame Show, served by Dunkin Donuts, on the WPEI Portland Pirates Radio Network, Presented by Napa Auto Parts, on 95.9/95.5 FM.

The Pirates return home to Cross Insurance Arena on to take on the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins on Friday, February 26 at 7:00 p.m. Friday is Hockey Night in Portland.
