Connecticut Sun News Release

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (August 4, 2009) - The Connecticut Sun is encouraging all fans to "Pack The Place Pink" on Sunday, August 9th when the Sun take on the Washington Mystics at 3 p.m.

All fans in attendance at the game will receive a pink ribbon to promote breast health awareness and survival. With Backus Hospital in Norwich as its community partner for a second year, the Sun will provide an opportunity for 11 Backus Hospital breast cancer survivors to participate in the pre-game ball exchange at center court. Information about breast health programs at Backus Hospital in Norwich and other breast health awareness messages and partners will be available through in-game features and along the Mohegan Sun Arena concourse throughout the game.

"The Connecticut Sun is proud to partner again with Backus Hospital on an issue that affects our players, coaches, fans and women around the world," Connecticut Sun Vice President and General Manager Chris Sienko said. "We are eager to do our part to educate the community and celebrate breast cancer survivors."

Anjuli Porter from NBC30 will sing the National Anthem prior to the game, and also serve as the guest in-game host. A silent auction will take place on the concourse throughout the game. Featured in the auction will be a specially designed pair of Lisa Leslie sneakers, created by Nike. All proceeds from the sale of the sneakers, autographed by Leslie, will benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund in partnership with The V Foundation.

The Connecticut Sun is in its seventh season of play at Mohegan Sun Arena. Ticket packages are on sale now and can be reserved by calling a Sun Ticket Sales Representative at 1.877.SUN.TIXX, e-mailing the Sun at tickets@connecticutsun.com or visiting www.connecticutsun.com.
