DURHAM, N.C. - Outfielder Stephen Piscotty singled while right-hander Angel Castro threw 1/3 of a scoreless inning as the Pacific Coast League lost 7-3 to the International League on Wednesday in the 2014 Triple-A All-Star Game before a capacity crowd of 10,274 at Durham Bulls Athletic Ballpark in Durham, North Carolina.

Piscotty, who was selected as reserve by the PCL office, went 1-for-2 in two plate appearances in the All-Star event. The 23-year-old outfielder entered the game as a defensive replacement in left field in the bottom of the sixth inning and ripped a base hit to left off Indianapolis pitcher Andy Oliver (Pirates) to lead off the eighth.

In his second plate appearance in the top of the ninth with a runner on first base and two outs, Piscotty grounded into a game-ending forceout, induced by Durham pitcher Merrilll Kelly (Rays).

Also selected as a reserve by the PCL office, Castro pitched 1/3 of a scoreless frame in relief and retired one of his two batters faced.

The 31-year-old right-hander began the bottom of the eighth by striking out Charlotte's Josh Phegley (White Sox) swinging on five pitches. After yielding an infield single to Norfolk's Ivan De Jesus (Orioles) one pitch later, Castro was replaced by Nashville reliever Donovan Hand (Brewers).

The Redbirds return to AutoZone Park tomorrow for an eight-game homestand against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Triple-A Rockies) and Omaha Storm Chasers (Triple-A Royals). A Michael Wacha Bobblehead giveaway and a Salute to First Responders fireworks extravaganza highlight the promotional event.
