OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City RedHawks and Chesapeake Energy Corporation are proud to honor Chesapeake Energy Community All-Star Bevan Graybill during Thursday's RedHawks home game against the Nashville Sounds.
Graybill first got involved with ReMerge in Oklahoma City in 2012. ReMerge is a comprehensive female diversion program designed to help transform pregnant women and mothers facing incarceration into productive community citizens. The program aims to provide opportunities for treatment and rehabilitation for women with children facing non-violent crimes to reduce the rate of women incarcerated in Oklahoma County.
The Chesapeake Energy Community All-Stars program identifies individuals who have gone above and beyond to make a difference in their communities. In partnership with the RedHawks, Chesapeake will honor five volunteers and their affiliated organizations throughout the 2014 baseball season.
"We're fortunate to live in Oklahoma, which is such a giving and generous place," RedHawks President/General Manager Michael Byrnes said. "RedHawks games offer a great platform to assist the mission of Chesapeake in recognizing the Chesapeake Energy Community All-Stars program, which highlights certain individuals who do everything in their power to better their communities."
Graybill came to ReMerge with the idea of providing a Thanksgiving meal for the women involved in the program, and the Oklahoma City resident remained involved as the program has continued to evolve.
"My favorite thing about the organization is it doesn't just help the women who are in the program," Graybill said. "It helps their children. It helps out communities. It helps our economy."
First pitch for Thursday's game is set for 7:05 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Come see Graybill and watch an informational video about ReMerge following the end of the third inning.
Interview requests for Graybill or RedHawks personnel can be made through the RedHawks media department. For more information on the Chesapeake Energy Community All-Stars program, visit okcredhawks.com.
Tickets for Thursday's game are available through the RedHawks ticket office at (405) 218-1000 or through okcredhawks.com.
