CarL1 Potomac Nationals

P-Nats Extend Offer to McNabb

May 20, 2011 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Potomac Nationals News Release

(WOODBRIDGE, VA) When news broke that Donovan McNabb was interested in a baseball career, the Potomac Nationals wasted no time and have reached out to the Redskins quarterback to discuss his future with the club.

"Maybe I'll play for the Nationals," McNabb said during a charity appearance in Washington on Wednesday - and the Nats were listening.

Potomac Nationals general manager Josh Olerud was thrilled to hear that the five-time NFC Champion was open to a switch from the gridiron to the diamond.

"Donovan McNabb is one of the defining athletes of our generation," Olerud said after contacting representatives for Mr. McNabb. "As a quarterback, he redefined the quarterback position and led the Philadelphia Eagles to national prominence.

And his work off the field is even more impressive: his tireless efforts to support Washington-area charities are right in line with our ballclub's community first philosophy."

No further details are immediately available as discussions continue between the two parties.

Updates on the negotiations and details of a McNabb appearance with the Potomac Nationals will be available on the Nationals' website, www.potomacnationals.com, on their Facebook page and their Twitter feed (@PNatsRadio).

The Nationals return home for a six-game homestand beginning Monday, May 23 with the Kinston Indians in town for a Dollar Monday.
