Frederick Keys News Release

The Orioles announced today that 2B Ryan Adams has been added to their 25-man active roster and will start at second base tonight for Baltimore when they host the Washington Nationals.

In 39 games with Triple-A Norfolk this season, the New Orleans, LA native hit .303 with 10 doubles, two triples, two home runs, and eight RBI. His .303 batting average and 10 doubles were tops on the Tides upon his departure.

Rated by Baseball America as the Orioles' eighth-best prospect entering the 2011 season, Adams spent all of 2009 with the Keys. He hit .288 in 59 games with Frederick. Last year in Double-A Bowie, Adams was an Eastern League All-Star and led the Orioles Minor League system in hits (158), doubles (43), and extra-base hits (58).

Currently, the Baltimore Orioles have ten former Frederick Keys on their active roster as well as one former Key on their disabled list (Brian Roberts). 2008 Frederick Key, RHP Jake Arrieta, will start atop the hill this evening for the Orioles.
