
P-Bruins sign Brendan Walsh

Providence Bruins News Release
The Providence Bruins announced today that they have signed right wing Brendan Walsh to an American Hockey League contract for the upcoming 2003-04 season. Walsh, who turns 29 on October 22, is a Dorchester, Massachusetts native who is entering his fourth professional season. He spent most of the 2002-03 season with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL), posting 2-5-7 totals in 48 games while finishing second on the club with 202 PIM. He also notched two assists and 40 PIM in six games with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies (ECHL).
The 5'9", 185-pound Walsh played two seasons with Boston University from 1995-97, helping the Terriers reach the 1996 NCAA Frozen Four and 1997 NCAA championship game. He transferred to the University of Maine after the 1996-97 season, playing the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons with the Black Bears. Maine won the 1999 NCAA national championship and went to the 2000 Frozen Four. Among his teammates at Maine were fellow Bruins Peter Metcalf and Robert Liscak.
Walsh began his professional career in 2000-01, tallying 1-1-2 totals and 45 PIM in 10 games with the Cleveland Lumberjacks (IHL). He also notched 3-6-9 totals and 179 PIM in 25 games with the Jackson Bandits (ECHL). Walsh split the 2001-02 season between the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL) and the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), playing 29 games for each club. He posted 2-2-4 totals and 184 PIM with the Penguins and 7-15-22 totals and 168 PIM with Wheeling.
The Providence Bruins will host a Boston Bruins pre-season game against the Stanley Cup champion New Jersey Devils at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence on Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at 7:05 p.m.
