Blues/Blues Prospect Tournament

St. Louis, MO, August 28, 2003 – St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President and General Manager Larry Pleau announced today that the club will participate in the 2003 NHL Prospects Tournament, September 5-9, in Traverse City Michigan. Blues prospects will compete in the five-day round robin tournament against prospects from the Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota Wild, Tampa Bay Lightning and Washington Capitals. The St. Louis Blues are the NHL affiliate of the Worcester IceCats (AHL).

St. Louis' roster, which includes draft picks, signed players, and tryout players, is highlighted by Peter Sejna who captured the Hobey Baker Award last season as the top collegiate player in the nation, and Shawn Belle, the Blues first round selection, 30th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. The roster also includes 2003 NHL Draft selections Alexandre Bolduc, Zack Fitzgerald, Jonathan Lehun, Evgeny Skachkov and Konstantin Zakharov.

The Blues/IceCats squad has won three of the last four tournaments. Previous championship rosters have included Marc Brown, Justin Papineau, Jeff Panzer, Jame Pollock, Mark Rycroft, Igor Valeev, Mike Van Ryn and Matt Walker. Johnny Pohl and Brett Scheffelmaier, members of the 2002-03 IceCats, were also previous participants in the rookie camp tournament.

The St. Louis Blues will begin its 2003 Training Camp on Monday, September 15, at Savvis Center. The rookie tournament schedule is listed below. To follow game results and tournament information, log on to www.stlouisblues.com.
