P-Bruins Open Pre-Season Schedule Tonight

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, member of the American Hockey League, will tonight begin their 2006-07 pre-season schedule, playing host to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the Bradford R. Boss Arena on the University of Rhode Island campus in Kingston. The game begins at 7:05 p.m.

The P-Bruins have also announced the signing of veteran defenseman Dwayne Zinger to an AHL contract for the 2006-07 season. As per team policy, terms of the agreement are not being disclosed.

Zinger, 30, enters his eighth professional season, the most recent spent playing for the San Antonio Rampage and Hershey Bears. In 65 games last year, the native of Coronation, Alberta, tallied three points (1g, 2a) and 142 penalty minutes. Overall, Zinger has appeared in 411 games, totaling 68 points (20g, 48a) and 685 PIM. During the 2003-04 campaign, the blue-liner's play earned him a call-up to the NHL's Washington Capitals, where he had an assist in seven games. Providence will be the sixth club for the undrafted veteran.

With the addition of Zinger, the P-Bruins' training camp roster stands at 33, including 19 forwards, 11 defensemen and three goaltenders.

The Providence Bruins' home opener for the 2006-07 season is October 13 versus the Worcester Sharks at 7:05 p.m. at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
