
P-Bruins Drop Pre-Season Opener

Providence, RI --The Providence Bruins dropped their first pre-season game of 2006 to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 5-3 at the Bradford R. Boss Arena in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. The P-Bruins got goals from David Krejci, Daniel Sparre and Andrew Leach.
The Sound Tiger took a 1-0 lead 2:59 into the opening period when Jamie Johnson scored unassisted. Bridgeport went on top 2-0 just under two minutes later on a power play goal from Luch Aquino with assists going to Ken Magowan and Bryan Rodney. The P-Bruins cut the Sound Tigers lead in half when Krejci tallied a power play goal at the 5:56 mark of the opening period. Martins Karsums and Ryan Glenn had the assists. Providence went into the first intermission tied at two with Bridgeport when Sparre scored an even strength goal at the 13:38 mark with Chris Collins and Wacey Rabbit recording the assists.
The P-Bruins took their first lead of the game at the 11:15 mark of the second period when Leach scored unassisted. It took the Sound Tigers only 32 seconds to tie the game when Tyler Liebel scored on a pass from Jocelyn Dubord. Bridgeport led going into the second intermission On Steve Regier's first goal of the game. Rodney and Aquino had the assists.
In the third period, Regier added an insurance goal for the Sound Tigers with Johnson and Johan Halvardsson picking up the assists as Bridgeport held on for the 5-3 victory.
The Bruins return to action Saturday night, when they take on the Springfield Falcons at the MassMutual Center, a 6:00 p.m. start. Providence returns home Sunday to face the Falcons at the Bridgewater Ice Arena in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Game starts at 1:00 p.m. For ticket information call (508) 279-0600.
