The Providence Bruins look to clinch a berth in the Calder Cup Playoffs for the 10th time in the 12-year history of the franchise on Wednesday, April 7 at 7:05 p.m., when they host the Portland Pirates. The Black and Gold needs one point to move into the post-season. Portland is in fifth place, four points behind the Bruins, with their 29-27-13-7 record (78 points).
Bruin defenseman Zdenek Kutlak will become the franchise career leader in games played on Wednesday, when he suits up for his 253rd game with the team. He played in his 252nd game on Sunday, tying former Bruin defenseman and head coach Peter Laviolette. Laviolette, now the head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes, was the team's first captain during the inaugural 1992-93 season, and also played with the team from 1994-97.
The Bruins will close out the home portion of their regular season on Friday, April 9 at 7:05 p.m., when they host the Springfield Falcons on Fan Appreciation Night.
