
P-Bruins Fall to Wolves 4-1

Rosemont, IL - The Providence Bruins fell to the Chicago Wolves 4-1 Sunday evening at the Allstate Arena. The P-Bruins got their lone goal from Byron Bitz. The 42-14-2-1 Atlantic Division leading P-Bruins are back in action Tuesday at the Toyota Center versus the Houston Aeros at 8:05 p.m. Providence remains five points ahead of the second place Hartford Wolf Pack.
The Wolves took a 1-0 lead at the 7:15 mark of the opening period. Brett Sterling netted his 31st goal of the season, with Darren Haydar and Brian Fahey recording the assists. The P-Bruins tied the game at one 28 seconds later. Steve MacIntyre passed the puck to Bitz in the neutral zone and he skated free down the right wing. From the top of the right face off circle Bitz took a shot and sent the puck over the shoulder of Wolves goaltender Ondrej Pavelec and into the net. The game went into the first intermission tied at one.
After a scoreless second period, the Wolves retook the lead at the 1:44 mark of the third period. Jesse Schultz scored his 19th goal of the season, while Joe Motzko and Fahey picked up the assists. Schultz scored his second goal of the period at the 11:16 mark, giving Chicago a 3-1 lead. Motzko and Kevin Doell grabbed the assists. The Wolves added an empty net power play goal at the 18:30 mark. Darren Haydar tallied his eleventh goal of the season with Jason Krog getting the lone assist. Chicago went on to the 4-1 victory.
Tuukka Rask stopped 29 of 32 shots for the P-Bruins, while Pavelec made 35 saves for the Wolves. The P-Bruins were 0-for-4 on the power play and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.
The Atlantic Division-leading P-Bruins continue their seven game road trip before returning to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, March 7 against the Binghamton Senators for T-Shirt Night at 7:05 p.m. Providence is also home Sunday, March 9 versus the Worcester Sharks for a Family Game at 4:05 p.m. Receive one ticket, hot dog and soda starting as low as $16.
