River Rats Raise Over $22,000 For Ronald McDonald House

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that their second-annual post-game jersey auction raised $22,955 to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The River Rats wore special third jerseys on Sunday in their 2-1 win over Philadelphia. The game-worn jerseys, designed in the Ronald McDonald House colors and sporting the River Rats 15th Anniversary logo were auctioned off on the Times Union Center ice surface immediately following the game.

All-star goaltender Michael Leighton's #29 jersey fetched the highest total at $1,500 as this year's auction surpassed last year's jersey auction total by $7,300.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region, Inc. provides comfort, support and respite for families of seriously ill children in a compassionate and home-like environment through the operation of the Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald House Family Room in the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center. In addition, Ronald McDonald House Charities operates The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile in partnership with St. Peter's Health Care Services and also awards grants to program in the community that enhance the lives of children. The Ronald McDonald regional chapter supports a house on Lake Avenue in Albany, just blocks from the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center.

The River Rats hit the road next week with a Wednesday, March 5th trip to Binghamton for a 7:05 pm face off with the Senators at the Broome County Veterans Memorials Arena. Albany's next home game will take place on Saturday, March 8th as they host Binghamton at the Glens Falls Civic Center at 7:00 pm.
