
Bulldogs Doubled up by Crunch

HAMILTON, ON - Kyle Chipchura had a goal and an assist but it wasn't enough as the Hamilton Bulldogs dropped a 4-2 decision to the Syracuse Crunch on Sunday evening at Copps Coliseum. With the loss, the 'Dogs record falls to 31-23-2-5 on the campaign.
Syracuse opened the scoring at 10:36 of the first period when Adam Pineault notched his 19th marker of the season. Clay Wilson and Joakim Lindstrom assisted on the 1-0 goal.
Hamilton tied the game 1-1 just 35 seconds into the middle stanza when Brett Engelhardt scored his first goal as a Bulldog and ninth of the campaign. Chipchura and Mathieu Carle drew the helpers on the play.
The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead with a shorthanded goal by Chipchura at 17:03 of the second frame. Chipchura took a pass from Jonathan Ferland, manoeuvred past a Crunch defender and fired a shot into the back of the net for his sixth tally of the season.
With two goals in the first 4:45 of the third period, the Crunch took a 3-2 lead. Zenon Konopka scored his 16th goal of the campaign with a wrist shot from the high slot at 2:50 on the power play to tie the game 2-2. Lindstrom then notched his 23rd tally of the season just 1:55 later to give Syracuse a 3-2 advantage that they wouldn't relinquish.
Trevor Frischmon added an empty-net marker with three seconds left in the game to give Syracuse a 4-2 victory. The goal, Frischmon's third of the campaign, was unassisted.
Hamilton outshot Syracuse in every period and 40-to-25 overall in the game.
Yann Danis turned aside 21 of 24 shots in a losing effort for the Bulldogs, while Goehring stopped 38 of 40 shots in the win the Crunch.
Hamilton was 0-for-7 with the man advantage, while the Crunch converted on one of their five power-play opportunities.
