P-Bruins defeat Wolf Pack 4-3

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack 4-3 Sunday afternoon in overtime at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got goals from Matt Hendricks, Nate Thompson and two goals from Jeff Hoggan, including the game winner in overtime. The 33-7-2-1 Atlantic Division leading P-Bruins are back at home Friday at the Dunkin' Donuts Center for Dunkin' Donuts Mug Night versus the Springfield Falcons at 7:05 p.m. Providence moves ten points ahead of the second place Portland Pirates.

The Wolf Pack got on the board first only 3:06 into the contest. Andy Hutchinson tallied his eighth goal of the season with Corey Potter recording the lone assist. Hartford took a 2-0 advantage at the 13:01 mark. Pierre Parenteau scored his 16th goal of the season, while Alex Bourret and Hutchinson picked up the assists. The P-Bruins cut the lead in half heading into the first intermission. Adam McQuaid worked the puck to Matt Lashoff in the neutral zone. Lashoff skated the puck into the zone before dishing it off to Hoggan, who scored his 17th goal of the season from the slot. Providence went into the first intermission trailing 2-1.

In the second period, the P-Bruins scored the lone goal to tie the game at two. Hendricks won the face off in the Wolf Pack zone and got the puck to Aaron Slattengren. He passed it back to Hendricks who tallied his 12th goal of the season.

In the third period, the Wolf Pack retook the lead at the 14:00 mark. While shorthanded, Parenteau stole the puck away from the P-Bruins and passed it to Greg Moore, giving him a breakaway. He slipped the puck past P-Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask for his 18th goal of the season. With time running out in regulation, the P-Bruins scored at the 18:40 mark to tie the game at three and send it into overtime. Sean Curry took a shot from the right point and the puck was tipped into the net off the shot by Thompson for his seventh goal of the season. Matt Hunwick grabbed the second assist.

In overtime, at the 3:49 mark, Martins Karsums held the puck in the zone and passed it behind the net to Curry. He fed the puck to Hoggan standing inside the right face off circle and Hoggan sent the puck into the net for his 18th goal of the season and a 4-3 P-Bruins victory.

Rask stopped 31 of 34 shots for the P-Bruins, while Miika Wiikman made 30 saves for the Wolf Pack. The P-Bruins were 0-for-5 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
