
Coyotes assign Jones to San Antonio for conditioning assignment

GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned defenseman Matt Jones to San Antonio of the American Hockey League (AHL) for conditioning assignment.
Jones, 24, has recorded 0-2-2 and 6 penalty minutes (PIM) in 37 games with the Coyotes this season.
The Downers Grove, Illinois native played 45 games with the Coyotes last season, registering 1-6-7 and 39 PIM. The 6-foot, 215-pound defenseman also collected 0-2-2 and 23 PIM in 24 games with San Antonio last season.
The Coyotes selected Jones in the 3rd round (80th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He played four seasons at the University of North Dakota and helped lead his team to the 2005 NCAA Frozen Four championship game as an assistant captain.
In 98 career NHL games with the Coyotes, Jones has recorded 1-10-11 and 59 PIM.
