
P-Bruins Defeat Pirates 2-1, Win Series

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Portland Pirates 2-1 Friday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Jordan Knackstedt and Peter Schaefer. The P-Bruins won the best of seven series 4 games to 1 and head onto the Atlantic Division Finals.
The Pirates took a 1-0 lead at the 10:25 mark of the opening period. Mark Kostka tallied his first goal of the post-season, while Colton Fretter and Marc-Andre Gragnani recorded the assists. Portland went into the first intermission leading 1-0.
The P-Bruins tied the game at one at the 5:46 mark of the second period. Ned Lukacevic chipped the puck down the boards to Dan Ryder. He skated towards the goal and found Knackstedt, who tipped the puck into the net for his first goal of the post-season. Providence took the lead at the 19:15 mark, while on the power play. David Kolomatis sent the puck off the boards in his own end to Mikko Lehtonen. He skated the puck into the neutral zone before dropping it off to Schaefer. He skated into the slot and tallied his first goal of the post-season. Providence went into the second intermission with a 2-1 lead.
After a scoreless third period, the P-Bruins went on to the 2-1 victory.
Tuukka Rask stopped 29 of 30 shots for the P-Bruins, while Jhonas Enroth made 36 saves for the Pirates. Â The P-Bruins were 1-for-4 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
