
Bulldogs lose 4-1 to fall in series

Grand Rapids, MI - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Grand Rapids Griffins 4-1 on Friday night. The Bulldogs only took 15 shots in the loss while Darren Haydar scored two goals to give Grand Rapids a 3-2 series lead.
The Griffins opened the game's scoring at 8:00 of the first frame. While on the power play, Jakub Kindl blasted a shot from the point that was saved by Hamilton starting goaltender Marc Denis. Denis was unable to control the rebound, which Tom Galvin grabbed and flicked over the goaltender and into the back of the net. Grand Rapids took a 2-0 lead at 15:07. Kindl received a pass from Francis Pare while stationed at the point. Kindl hammered a shot that sailed past Denis and into the net.
The Bulldogs cut the lead in half at 17:51 of the opening stanza. While on a two-man advantage power play, Ben Maxwell fed the puck to Mike Glumac, who was positioned in the high slot. Glumac rifled a shot past Grand Rapids starting goaltender Jimmy Howard.
The Griffins scored their second power-play goal of the game at 11:11 of the middle frame to take a 3-1 lead. Haydar received a pass from Garrett Stafford before firing a shot from the point. The puck made its way through traffic in front of the net before beating Denis below the blocker.
Haydar added his second goal of the game at 7:17 to give Grand Rapids a 4-1 lead. Ville Leino passed the puck to Haydar, who carried the puck over the blue line. Haydar snapped a shot from the top of the left faceoff circle beating Denis on the glove side.
The Bulldogs return to Copps Coliseum for Game 6 on Sunday, April 26th for a 6:00 p.m. game. All home playoff games can be seen on Cable 14.
