
P-Bruins Defeat Heat 4-2

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Abbotsford Heat 4-2 Friday evening in front of 8,944 fans at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from John Lammers, Andrew Bodnarchuk, Craig Weller and Brad Marchand. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday at 7:05 p.m. for Winter Hat Night against the Abbotsford Heat.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 advantage at the 17:58 mark of the opening period. Zach Hamill passed the puck around the boards to Andy Wozniewski. He shot the puck towards the net, where it was tipped in by Lammers for his third goal of the season. Providence led 1-0 going into the first intermission.
The Heat tied the game at one at the 4:59 mark of the second period, while on the power play. Jason Jaffray tallied his 19th goal of the season, with Keith Seabrook and Mikael Backlund recording the assists. Abbotsford took its first lead of the game at the 9:17 mark. Brad Cole netted his first goal of the season, while Seabrook and Shawn Weller picked up the assists. The Heat led 2-1 going into the second intermission.
Providence tied the game at two at the 3:08 mark of the third period. Bodnarchuk picked up the puck behind the P-Bruins net and skated coast-to-coast, sending the puck top shelf into the net for his third goal of the season. The P-Bruins retook the lead at the 4:43 mark. Hamill stole the puck and dropped it off to Weller, who skated down the right wing. He sent the puck into the net for his third goal of the season. Providence finished off the scoring at the 18:28 mark. Hamill took a shot and the rebound went to Guillaume Lefebvre, who kicked it over to Marchand. He scored his 12th goal of the season as the P-Bruins went onto the 4-2 victory.
Dany Sabourin stopped 34 of 36 shots for the P-Bruins, while David Shantz made 28 saves for the Heat. The P-Bruins were 0-for-5 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
Providence heads to the Verizon Wireless Arena Saturday to take on the Manchester Monarchs at 7:00 p.m., before wrapping up the weekend at The Dunk Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for Poster Night against the Heat.
