Rochester didn't have long to celebrate though, as Manitoba capitalized 1:24 later. Pierre-Cedric Labrie's shot from behind the net deflected off a defenders stick and into the mesh to knot the game at one.

With Victor Oreskovich serving time for high-sticking, Manitoba benefited from their second powerplay. With a scramble of player's in front of Salak's crease, the netminder was tested four straight times. After making the first three saves, Dan Sexton beat the first-year ‘tender when he blasted a wrist shot from the slot to put the Moose on top, 2-1.

At 7:26 of the second period the Moose extended their lead further. With an across the net pass from Captain Mike Keane, defenceman Travis Ramsey netted his first goal of the season when he slapped it over Salak for a 3-1 tally.

At the beginning of the third period the Moose were leading the game but the Amerks lead the shot clock 26-16. At 2:06 they made one of their attempts count when Mike York netted a powerplay marker to inch closer, 3-2.

Michael Grabner extended his goal-scoring streak to five consecutive games when he topped the puck over Salak at 15:46 to double up Manitoba's lead. However, the Americans fought right back when Evgeny Dadonov tipped the puck through Schneider's five-hole to get back within one less than two minutes later.

At 19:38 Graham Mink was handed an interference minor and the Moose timed-out the clock to earn a 4-3 victory over the hometown Americans.
