Springfield Falcons News Release

The Springfield Falcons lost to the Norfolk Admirals 3-1 on Friday night at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. The Falcons and Admirals will play once again on Saturday night starting at 7:15 pm.

The Falcons fell behind 2-0 in the opening period with Norfolk receiving goals from Ryan Craig and Mark Parrish within the first seven minutes of the first period. Parrish's goal was shorthanded as he ended up on a two-on-zero breakaway with Dana Tyrell. Tyrell assisted on both Norfolk goals in the first period.

The Falcons cut their deficit to 2-1 with just 31-seconds remaining in the opening frame when Chris Armstrong tipped in a Taylor Chorney shot from the point on the power play.

The two teams played a scoreless second period, but the period didn't lack action and energy. The teams exchanged power play opportunities and scoring chances. The Falcons ended up on a five-on-three penalty kill less than a minute into the second period, but the Falcons penalty killing unit did a great job killing it off. Falcons goaltender Devan Dubnyk was very steady in the middle period making 23 saves, including a handful point-blank Norfolk scoring chances.

Falcons captain Dean Arsene and Admirals captain Ryan Craig dropped the gloves midway through the second period picking up fighting majors.

Brandon Bochenski added an insurance goal for Norfolk in the third period.
