
Bruins double Heat 4-2

PROVIDENCE RI - The Providence Bruins scored three unanswered goals in the third period to double up the Abbotsford Heat 4-2 in AHL action on Friday night in New England.
Langley product John Lammers opened the scoring for the Bruins with a deflection past HEAT goalie David Shantz late in the first period. For Lammers, it was his third goal of the year and gave Providence a 1-0 lead after the opening frame.
In the second period, the HEAT would take the lead. First, Jason Jaffray would score his team leading 19th of the season on the power play. Mikael Backlund would lay a perfect pass on Jaffray's stick at the top of the crease, allowing Jaffray to redirect the puck past former Canuck goaltender Dany Sabourin and into the Bruins net to tie the score at 1-1 at 4:59 of the second period. Keith Seabrook would also draw an assist on the play.
Brad Cole would then score his first goal o f the season to give the HEAT their first lead of the game. Cole would pinch in from the left point and fire a shot on goal that went over the glove of Sabourin and into the net. Cole's first at 9:17 would give the HEAT a 2-1 lead after two periods.
But in the third, Providence would not be denied as Andrew Bodnarchuk, Craig Weller and Brad Marchand would score goals to hand the Heat their first loss on this nine game road trip, they are now 3-1 on the swing. The Heat also lost their first game in regulation this season when leading after 40 minutes of play.
Abbotsford will now head to Bridgeport for a meeting versus the New York Islanders affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The HONDA WAY PREGAME show will be at 3:45 pm, Saturday afternoon. Dave Sheldon will have the call of all the action at 4 pm.
