Worcester Sharks News Release
Binghamton, NY - Dan DaSilva scored with just 3:14 remaining in the third period to break a 3-3 tie and Alex Stalock made 38 saves for a team record 31st victory in net as the Sharks won their 4th straight game overall in a 4-3 victory over the Senators on Friday night in Binghamton.
T.J. Trevelyan, Benn Ferriero, and Jamie McGinn also scored for the Sharks while Danny Groulx and Jason Demers each had two assists in Worcester's 35th win of the season.
The Senators broke out to a 1-0 lead at 6:45 after Martin St. Pierre (16th) banged in a loose rebound in front after a nice initial rush by defenseman Geoff Kinrade down the right wing was stopped by Alex Stalock. The Sharks trailed 1-0 after a sloppy twenty minutes of play that saw plenty of icings and off-sides.
T.J. Trevelyan (13th) tied the score at 1-1 at 8:15 of the second period as he jammed in a loose puck off Mike Brodeur at the far post after a goal mouth scramble. Just under three minutes later, Benn Ferriero(18th) fired a blazing shot from 45 feet on the right wing with Andrew Desjardins providing the screen in front on the power play at 11:14 to give the Sharks their first lead of the game at 2-1. The Sharks had a goal advantage after two periods outshooting the Senators 38-29.
The Senators broke out with two goals early in the third period to take a 3-2 lead. Martin St. Pierre (17th) fired in a loose rebound at 4:23 and Tomas Kudelka (3rd) scored an unassisted tally after a turnover deep in the Sharks zone at 7:46. Jamie McGinn (7th) tied the score on the power play at 11:18 with a terrific shot from the right circle with traffic in front. Dan DaSilva (12th) scored into an empty net after a super cross ice pass by Danny Groulx found DaSilva on the right wing side past a sprawled Mike Brodeur at 16:46. The Sharks held off a late Senators charge for the 4-3 victory.
Worcester's record moves to 35-16-2-2 (74 points) in the Atlantic Division with a five point advantage over the Pirates and Monarchs.
