P-Bruins Defeat Falcons 3-2

Springfield, MA - The Providence Bruins defeated the Springfield Falcons 3-2 Saturday evening at the MassMutual Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Andrew Bodnarchuk, Ryan Spooner and Kyle MacKinnon. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday at 4:05 p.m.for Walgreens Stress Ball Night against the Manchester Monarchs.

After a scoreless opening period, the Falcons took the 1-0 lead at the 10:03 mark of the second period. Maksim Mayorov tallied his 19th goal of the season, while Nikita Filatov and Anton Blomqvist recorded the assists. Providence tied the game at one at the 19:52 mark. Zack Hamill sent the puck up the boards to David Laliberte who carried it through the neutral zone. He found Bodnarchuk who skated the puck down the left wing and backhanded it into the net for his first goal of the season. The game went into the second intermission tied at one.

The P-Bruins took their first lead of the game at the 4:54 mark of the third period. Ryan Button settled the puck down in his zone and passed it to Jared Knight. He found Spooner behind the net who scored off the wrap around, his first professional goal. Springfield battled back to tie the game at two at the 15:04 mark. Cam Atkinson netted his third goal of the season, while Ben Guite picked up the lone assist. Providence took the lead for good at the 15:53 mark. Carter Camper took a shot and the rebound landed on the stick of MacKinnon, who scored his first professional goal. The P-Bruins went on to the 3-2 victory.

Michael Hutchinson stopped 30 of 32 shots for the P-Bruins, while David LeNeveu made 24 saves for the Falcons. The P-Bruins were 0-for-2 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.

The P-Bruins wrap up the season at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for Walgreens Stress Ball Night versus the Monarchs.
