
Ottawa Senators Announce Changes to Coaching Staff

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 9, 2011) - Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today that the club has dismissed, effectively immediately, head coach Cory Clouston and assistant coaches Greg Carvel and Brad Lauer.

Clouston, 41, was named Ottawa's ninth head coach on Feb. 2, 2009, after being promoted from the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. He has a career NHL head-coaching record of 95-83-20 (.530, 198 games). In one playoff series with the Senators against the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009-10, Clouston had two wins and four losses. He joined the Senators organization in 2007-08 after spending five season with the Western Hockey League's Kootenay Ice.
Carvel, 40, joined the Senators in August 2004 as an assistant coach under Bryan Murray. He previously worked with the Anaheim Ducks and the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters.
Lauer, 44, joined the club in July 2009. A former Senator from the 1993-94 season, Lauer came to the Senators from the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals, and before that the WHL's Kootenay Ice.
