
P-Bruins close out home schedule

Providence, RI -- The Providence Bruins concluded their 2001-02 home schedule on Friday night, as they hosted the Hartford Wolf Pack in an East Division battle. Despite falling, 4-2, the Bruins remain in the Calder Cup Playoffs. The Bruins' record is now 35-31-8-4 (82 points). The Bruins wrap up the regular season on the road, beginning on Saturday night, when they visit the Springfield Falcons at 7:35 p.m. They end the season on Sunday afternoon at 5:05 p.m. when they face off with the Lowell Lock Monsters.
Bruin defenseman Chris Kelleher (6) and left wing Jamie Thompson (6) scored the Providence goals. Center Eric Manlow earned one assist, moving him into a tie for fourth place on the franchise list with 101 assists in 175 games. Manlow, who turns 27 on Sunday, needs just four more to become the all-time franchise leader.
The Bruins handed out their team awards prior to the start of the game. Goaltender Andrew Raycroft was voted by his teammates as the Most Valuable Player, and by the fans as the winner of the first Hendricks Memorial Fan Appreciation Award. He also captured the Three Stars Award. Center/right wing Andy Hilbert took home the Rookie of the Year and Leading Scorer trophies, and was presented with his award for being named to the AHL All-Rookie Team. Left wing Jay Henderson received an award for being named the Bruins' AHL Man of the Year, and shared the Community Service Award with right wing Lee Goren. Rookie defenseman Martin Wilde also shared in the honors, receiving the Plus/Minus Award.
Tickets for the qualifying round of the Calder Cup Playoffs will go on sale on Monday, April 8th at 10:00 a.m. If the Bruins host a qualifying round series, Games 1 and 2 would be played Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9th and 10th, respectively, at 7:05 p.m. Should a deciding Game 3 be necessary, it would be played on Thursday, April 11th at 7:05 p.m. Tickets will be available at the Dunkin' Donuts Center box office and all TicketMaster outlets (401-331-2211 or 508/617-931-2000).
