April 5, 2002 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Portland Pirates News Release

PORTLAND, ME - The Portland Pirates announced today that weekday (Monday - Thursday) start times for their 40 home games during the 2002-2003 AHL season will be later than this season.

"The new start times are actually a return to more traditional face-off times for this market," said Brian Williams, the Pirates' Vice President/COO. "We experimented with earlier start times this past season and we heard from many, including our loyal season ticket holders, who said our 6:05 p.m. starts on Thursdays were just too early for people to get home and return to the arena to see the game."

The opening face-off times for the 2002-2003 season will be as follows:

Weekdays (Monday--Thursday) 7:05 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays 7:05 p.m. Sundays 4:05 p.m.

As there have been in past seasons, there will be some exceptions to these start times to accommodate televised Pirates' games. In addition, special matinee times will be added due to other events at the Cumberland County Civic Center such as the high school basketball playoffs each March and to leverage other seasonal or holiday opportunities.

Pirates' full-season and partial-season ticket packages are on sale now. They include a 25% discount on 2003 AHL All-Star Classic tickets through June 15th. Several additional benefits are being added for season ticket subscribers including a payment installment plan and the introduction of the Pirates' Referral Program. For more information, call the Pirates' offices at 828-4665, ext. 310 or visit portlandpirates.com.
