Owlz Battle But Lose Third Straight

(Great Falls) - The Owlz lost their consecutive game, losing to the Great Falls Voyagers, 6-3, on Thursday evening at Centene Stadium in Great Falls, Montana.

After working a scoreless first inning, Cole Duensing retired the first two batters he faced in the bottom of the second inning before Adam McGinnis crushed a solo home run to left field, giving the Voyagers a 1-0 lead in the second.

Great Falls added to their lead in the third inning. Ian Dawkins opened the inning with a double to left. After Lenyn Sosa reached on an error, Logan Sowers walked, loading the bases. Corey Zangari hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Dawkins, while Sosa was thrown out trying to advance to third. The next batter, Alex Destino, doubled to center extending the lead to 3-0. The inning was capped off by a Romy Gonzalez RBI single, pushing the Voyagers' lead to 4-0.

The Owlz scored their first run of the game in the fifth inning. Tim Millard opened the inning with a walk and moved to second on an Erven Roper single. After a double play moved Millard to third, Johan Sala beat out a ground ball for a single, scoring Millard, cutting the deficit to 4-1.

After Great Falls got that run back in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Owlz scored a pair in the sixth. With one out, Kevin Maitan singled to center and then moved to second on an error allowing Nonie Williams reach. Francisco Del Valle lined a single to center, scoring Maitan. Tim Millard then hit into a fielder's choice, scoring Williams, cutting the Voyagers' lead to 5-3.

Great Falls added an insurance run in the eighth as the Owlz lost their third consecutive game, 5-3. Great Falls' starter Chris Comito (2-3) earned the win while Cole Duensing (0-4) was charged with the loss and Bennett Sousa (4) notched the save. The Owlz and Voyagers will finish the series on Friday night at 7:00 at Centene Stadium.
