Osprey Offense Explodes for 11 Runs Thursday to Defeat the Raptors

MISSOULA, MONT - The Missoula Osprey (14-13) blasted 12 hits with two home runs en route to an 11-4 victory over the Ogden Raptors (17-10) Thursday from Lindquist Field. Alex King led the way for Missoula, driving in four runs.
It did not take long for the Missoula offense to jumpstart Thursday evening. Jesus Marriaga started the game with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. With two outs, Zachery Almond roped a base hit back up the middle to crack the scoreboard. Alex King followed him with a two-run home run; the first of his Osprey career, and Brandon Leyton finished the inning with a solo blast to give Missoula a 4-0 lead.
Ogden evened the game in the bottom of the frame courtesy of home runs from Drew Avans and Ronny Brito to tie the game at four.
Both teams were held scoreless until the top of the fifth when the Osprey offense jumped back on the board with three runs to regain control. Marriaga drew a one-out walk and advanced to second on another wild pitch. Cesar Garcia was hit by a pitch, and Buddy Kennedy singled up the middle to score Marriaga and give Missoula a 5-4 lead. King drove home two more with a single to push the Osprey ahead 7-4.
Erin Baldwin (1-0) was lights out for the Osprey bullpen, entering the game in the fifth and pitching three innings of scoreless baseball. He gave up one hit and struck out three to earn his first career win.
Missoula's offense jumped on the board again in the seventh, sparked by another Marriaga walk. Kennedy singled and Almond walked to load the bases. A wild pitch scored an Osprey run while Leyton singled to center to bring home the second run of the inning. Jesus Munoz then launched a double to right centerfield to score two and make it an 11-4 game.
Bryan Menendez pitched a scoreless ninth for the Osprey as they defeat Ogden for the first time this season. Missoula is now two games back in the North Division standings behind Great Falls (16-11).
Friday's first pitch in Ogden is slated for a 7:00 pm first pitch at Lindquist Field. The Selway Armory Pregame Show begins at 6:45 p.m. on 102.9 ESPN Missoula and the MiLB First Pitch App.
