Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

MISSOULA- The Orem Owlz saw their longest losing streak of the season in their loss last night to the Missoula Osprey as they were shut out in the third game of the season, falling for the fourth time in four games. On Thursday night, the Owlz didn't want to drive all the way back to Orem with a five game losing streak, so they came out on the diamond and played Owlz baseball and quieted the home teams fan in a 4-2 win to snap their losing streak.

The Owlz started the night off with a great second inning of play. After Jeff Boehm was walked to open up the second inning, Sam Koenig, hit a shot through the gap in the infield for a base hit that put Boehm on third. Alex Abbott then came up and hit home his teammate at third to put the Owlz on top 1-0 and take their first lead of the series.

The fourth inning is where the Owlz really started to click on the diamond as Brendon Sanger opened up the inning with a slashing hit to left field, after the base hit he was able to steal the second base bag to put the Owlz in scoring position where Sanger, Abbott and Angel Genao all scored in the inning to put the Owlz on top 4-1.

Austin Byler for the Osprey did cut the lead to a two run game after hitting another home run vs the Owlz, but it wasn't enough to pull the home team back into the game.

Adam Hofacket received his seventh save of the season as he struck out the final batter of the night with two runners on the diamond to secure the win for the Owlz.

Aaron Cox won his fourth game of the season with one strikeout in three innings of play. Ronnie Glenn helped out on the mound with two innings striking out four of the six batters he faced.

The Owlz fall 1-3 vs the Osprey in the series on the road, but avoid the sweep as they head home for a four game series with their rival from up north in the Ogden Raptors.
