Evansville Otters News Release

EVANSVILLE, IN – The Evansville Otters lost a 6-4 lead in the eighth inning, but came back to win in the bottom of the tenth, defeating the Florence Freedom 7-6.

The Freedom scored first when on the second pitch of the game, Tom Creighton homered. The Otters came back in the bottom of the first, in large part due to an Andrew Davie homer to take a 3-1 lead. Evansville would go up 4-2 before the Freedom tied it in the seventh. After the Otters scored two in the bottom of the seventh, Florence came back with two of their own to send the game into extra innings in the top of the eighth.

Evansville plated the winning run in the tenth when following a Steve Martin leadoff single, he stole second. Brian McKenna was intentionally walked. The Otters sent up Dave Mischo to pinch hit. On an 0-1 count, Mischo lined a single into right, scoring Martin, giving Evansville the sweep.

Evansville now leads the season series against the Freedom 13-2 and end the season series at Bosse Field going 9-0 against Florence at home. The Otters now begin a three game road trip to Chillicothe. Newcomer Robby Read will take the mound for Evansville in game one, Saturday afternoon at 5:05.
