
Washington Sweeps Doubleheader

WASHINGTON, PA â The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, swept a doubleheader over the Richmond Roosters, improving their record to 41-23. In doing so, they become the first Frontier League team to reach 40 wins in 2004.
The nightcap was scheduled for seven innings, but last 10. The score stood at 1-1 until Matt Bok singled in Jon Cahill for the winning run. Washington's starter, Grant Dorn (2-4), allowed just one run over six innings and struck out eight. Brendon Davis (2-2) earned the victory, as he pitched the final four innings without allowing a hit.
In the opener, the Wild Things jumped out to an early lead by scoring four runs in the second inning. Brian Stoecklein added his sixth home run of the season in the fourth inning. B.J. Borsa earned his 13th save of the season by closing out the 6-4 victory. Jim Popp (3-1) earned the victory for Washington.
Richmond returns to Falconi Field Sunday night for the final game of the three-game series. Game time is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive Wild Thing nesting dolls courtesy of Washington Federal. Also, the Purina Incredible Dog Team will be performing before the game and the first 1,000 fans will receive dog bandanas courtesy of Purina and PETCO.
